EDSF13 Web Feature Service on QGIS

A brief tutorial on how to load seismofaults.eu data on QGIS using OGC Web Feature Service

+ WFS catalogue of EDSF

Click on the "Copy url" button on the right of the GetCapabilities url to copy it in your clipboard

From the seismofaults.eu main menu choose Services, then click on the dataset you want to load (in this tutorial we use EDSF13 as an example, but the same procedure applies to any other dataset)
Open your QGis Desktop and click on New Project button to start a new blank project if necessary
+ QGis GUI
+ Add a WFS
Layer → Add Layer → Add WFS Layer...

Edit the Name field naming it freely and paste the GetCapabilities url from your clipboard in the URL field

Leave blank the authentication fields since our services do not require any. The other fields can remain as default.

This is a one time procedure since, as you click on OK the connection will remain in the configuration of QGis for future use.
+ New WMS connection in QGis
+ WFS layers in getCapabilities

Clicking Connect the list of the data published by the server as WFS will be loaded and shown as following

Since through WFS the real data are collected, they can be accessed and queried through the usual GIS vector tools (geoprocessing, geometry, analysis etc)
